VBDL REOPENING PLAN
DECATUR, MICHIGAN – – – – Van Buren District Library is offering curbside service at all seven locations beginning June 11.
According to Library Director Dan Hutchins, patrons may arrange to pick-up library materials Thursdays between 2:00pm and 6:00pm, and Tuesdays and Saturdays, between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
VBDL staff will be available to take phone requests and answer questions between 10:00am and 2:00pm, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, after June 11. Requests may be made online anytime at VBDL.org.
VBDL requests that patrons return any library materials to the outside Dropbox. Staff working Curbside will not be accepting returned items, since all materials that are returned must be quarantined for 24 to 72 hours. VBDL also requests that patrons do not bring used book donations to any location.
The library also says that since returned items must be quarantined, staff may not be able to fill requests as quickly as they have in the past. MeL, the statewide interlibrary loan service, continues to be unavailable.
VBDL staff have been trained to conduct Curbside Service according to the library’s Pandemic Policy & Reopening Procedure (available online at https://bit.ly/3dD9ImC). When delivering materials to the curbside, staff will wear masks and practice social distancing. The District’s goal is to is to provide patrons with library service in the safest manner possible.
