DNA AND GENEALOGY AT VBDL BLOOMINGDALE BRANCH
BLOOMINGDALE, MICHIGAN – – – – DNA testing is booming. According to the MIT Technology Review, the number of direct-to-consumer DNA tests more than doubled last year. It is estimated that more than 12 million people worldwide currently have access to their genetic makeup.
The question for most consumers, however, is which test provides the best results for personal genealogical goals. VBDL Bloomingdale Branch and local history librarian Pam Pender help patrons determine the best test for their needs during a DNA and genealogy program, Monday, April 30, 5:30 pm.
Pender compares the four most popular tests: Ancestry DNA, Family Tree DNA, 23andMe, and MyHeritage DNA. A subsequent program is scheduled for Monday, May 7, 5:30 pm.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the branch at 109 East Kalamazoo, Bloomingdale, or phone 269.521.7601.
Van Buren District Library is headquartered in Decatur with branches in Bangor, Bloomingdale, Covert, Gobles, Lawrence and Mattawan.
