Van Buren District Library operations are funded by a dedicated property tax. The current property tax for the library district is $1.09 per $1,000 of assessed value.
The library’s budget for Fiscal Year 2021 is $2.2 million. A budget hearing is held every year during the regularly scheduled August or September board meeting, prior to adoption of the budget resolution.
Approximately 75% of the library’s funding comes from tax revenue, and rest from county penal fines and private contributions.
